Reading Assessments

posted Oct 22, 2017, 7:26 PM by Stephanie Gerlach   [ updated Oct 22, 2017, 7:27 PM ]

Every Friday, students are assessed on their developing reading skills. These skills include decoding words, recognizing high-frequency words, comprehension, grammar, and phonics. I administer the reading tests individually in order to become familiar with each child's strengths and weaknesses in these areas. The first several assessments administered to the students were used to help them grow familiar with the test-taking process.  Starting next week, I will begin sending weekly assessments home.  You will notice that these are not marked with a letter grade; rather, individual skills are scored separately on an Evaluation Chart.  The chart can be found on the last page of each assessment.  Should you have any questions or concerns about your child's progress, please feel free to contact me.
