I am so proud of Grade 1-O for doing a GREAT job hosting Friday's Mass.  All of the children were well behaved. The readers practiced and presented their best efforts.  The students who brought the gifts up to the alter, did so with great care.  They all received many compliments.

The children didn't stop talking about their adventures on the class trip to Turtle Back Zoo.  They will journal about the habitat they would like to live in if they were an animal at the zoo.  Then they will share their thoughts with the class.

**Thank you to all the parents for your much needed cooperation for making the field trip fun.

In Language Arts, the children are reading stories about building things.  Ask your child about what types of structures were built in the stories.  Also the students had the chance to write about how they would build a sandcastle. They also will be making a sandcastle collage in response to a sandcastle story.

The children had the opportunity to write a speech on how they would take care of the planet.  They challenged themselves and wrote ten sentences about what they learned and how they could help our planet be a healthier one to live on.  This week they will have the chance to share their ideas with the class.

In class we read many stories about careers and jobs.  The children wrote about what job they would like to do when they grow up.  Then they dressed the part and read their journals to the class.  We learned a lot about each others future goals.

The students read many stories about adventures in space.  They read space stories that were fiction and nonfiction. In response they wrote about their own adventure in space and colored a picture of themselves as an astronaut and alien.

The children read poems in Language Arts and had the chance to write their own poems about Spring. Their Spring Poems are a nice compliment to their spring butterflies.
